Red squirrels in North Merseyside

There are many places where red squirrels can be seen along the Sefton Coast.  Until recently, the best location was the National Trust site at Formby.  Tragically, an outbreak of squirrelpox virus in this area in 2008 has reduced the population dramatically. You can help us find out more about the health of the red squirrel population around Formby by reporting sightings of red and grey squirrels to Save our Squirrels.
